This book is an attempt to make a classificatory analysis of Kanuri idioms. Forty resource persons were used for data collection within Maiduguri Metropolitan. One hundred and fifty Kanuri idioms were collected interpreted and analyses based on the functional theory of Halliday as a theoretical framework. The work reveals that Kanuri idioms have three functional roles: informative affective and moral. Each role is presented in a tabular form. Kanuri idioms were classified base on the above three functions. The data is expressed in number and percentages. Informative roles are 64 in number which represent 41%; affective roles are 54 out of the 150 idioms collected and represented 36%, whereas the remaining 32 idioms representing 23% go to the moral functions.
