Beschreibung
Prevalence of diseases among the farmed crustaceans is leading to enormous economic losses in the modern times. Several pathogens are known for their virulence and rapid mortalities that they are coupled with. Though the etiologies of many of them are clearly known there are many complex conditions in which even the preliminary studies were also lacking. Coupled to the severity of the diseases poor management practices are responsible for making the situation much worse in managing a malady. As a consequence of that there is a recent decline in the aquaculture production that has been traded internationally. The present study was taken up to analyze the disease problems in the aquaculture industry of Nellore region in particular after the introduction of a new exotic species litopenaeus vannamei.
