This volume contains some of the papers given at an international conference on the Syrian crisis in 2017 in the Accademia di studi-italo tedeschi, Merano. The contributors are Tea Antoniazzi, Hans-Christian Günther, Djavad Kashani, Ali Ashgar Mosleh, Francisco Muñoz Conde, Isabella Oldani, Riccardo Pozzo, Luigi Sammartino, Harro von Senger, Udo Steinbach und Vania Virgili.Hans-Christian Günther is professor for classics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. He has widely published on Greek and Roman philosophy and literature, Byzantine and modern Greek studies. Recently he has been more and more interested in intercultural studies, ethics and international politics.
