Travelling home from a European holiday, Iris Carr ends up alone at the station after a quarrel with her friends. She is struck by a mysterious assailant, waking up later in the waiting room where nobody can tell her what happened, before boarding the train and meeting the affable Miss Froy and a handful of curious fellow passengers. When Iris passes out and reawakens, Miss Froy is nowhere to be found, and the other passengers deny any knowledge of her existence... Adapted for film as 'The Lady Vanishes' by Alfred Hitchcock.
